Traditionally, politicians have used a number of methods to measure their effectiveness, and it usually involves the ability to raise money. The word “traditionally” is an issue, however, because this Presidential primary race has been anything but ‘traditional’. Sen. Ted Cruz, for instance, has exceeded everyone’s expectations on fundraising, but a recent fundraiser in Steamboat Springs, Co. for Rep. Scott Tipton provided an even more meaningful insight into the Senator’s effectiveness.
According to a report in the Daily Caller, a high-ranking member of the Congressional leadership told attendees that he likes the fact that Sen. Cruz’s Presidential campaign keeps “that jackass” out of Washington. Reports that the event organizers were twice forced to bring in additional supplies of alcoholic beverages have not been confirmed.
If Sen. Mitch McConnell had made that remark it wouldn’t have been quite so impressive; after all, Ted Cruz is a member of the Senate and is well-known for being a thorn in the Senate Majority Leader’s side. What really makes this achievement so impressive is that the remark was made by John Boehner, Speaker of the HOUSE. Ted Cruz isn’t even a member of the House of Representatives, yet he appears to be making John Boehner’s life miserable.
Now THAT is impressive! Apparently Sen. Cruz is, as Rush Limbaugh would put it, living rent-free inside the Speaker’s head.
Boehner’s use of the term “jackass” is a bit off-base, though. John Boehner, during his term as House Speaker, has probably done more to advance President Obama’s Socialist, anti-America, anti-Israel, and pro-terrorist agenda that Nancy Pelosi ever thought of doing. If you count the number of times Boehner has been on the same side of an issue as Barack Obama and compare that to the number of times Ted Cruz has been found in that dubious position, it is pretty easy to see which of the two are more closely related to that long-time symbol of the Democrat Party – the jackass.
Perhaps Speaker Boehner should take a look at the big picture before opening his mouth. While Ted Cruz is away from Washington campaigning for President, raising more money than anyone ever expected and steadily moving up in the polls, John Boehner has been working hard to head off a move by Republican members of the House to remove him from the Speaker’s seat, and is facing a serious primary challenge to his House seat by a conservative by the name of J.D. Winteregg.
Speaking of J.D. Winteregg, did I mention that he is running against House Speaker John Boehner for Ohio’s 8th Congressional District? Yes, it’s true, and if you happen to live in Ohio’s 8th Congressional District and are as tired of the Washington mess as I am, it would only make sense to support the Winteregg campaign in any way you can, either with donations, or helping with the campaign, but most importantly with your vote. He even has a website where you can learn more about him and where he stands on issues, where you can sign up as a volunteer or you can contribute to his campaign.
As long as we’re on the subject of contributing to his campaign, I would like to point out that running against an incumbent Congressman is very difficult and expensive, especially if that incumbent Congressman has been there long enough to get into the back pockets of every high-rolling lobbyist in Washington. Being Speaker of the House makes it even more difficult and expensive because the House Speaker has a special place in the back pockets of the biggest of the high-rolling Washington lobbyists.
Obviously if you don’t live in Ohio’s 8th Congressional District you can’t vote for Winteregg, but you can most certainly contribute to his campaign. Are you as fed up with John Boehner as I am? Would you be willing to spend just $10 to help get him out of office? I just finished doing just that and it was very easy; anyone can do it. Can you imagine how much it would help Winteregg’s campaign if everyone who didn’t like Boehner was willing to send Winteregg $10?
People rarely notice a single honey bee, but a swarm of them can make even the bravest run for their lives. Wouldn’t it be terrible for Boehner and great for America if we swarm the Winteregg campaign with $10 bills?
